Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - West Java Police will deploy about 3,000 anti-terror personnel to guard Idul Fitri travelers in West Java, the province`s police chief, Insp. Gen Timur Pradopo, said.
"The police force will include 4 teams from the anti-terror detachment, each consisting of 750 men," he said here on Saturday.
He said one of the four anti-terror units would be contributed by National Police Headquarters in Jakarta.
The anti-terror forces would be stationed in places considered prone to the entry of terrorists such as inter-city bus terminals, train stations and airports.
"They will be scattered at terminals, train stations and airports," he said.
Besides the three points, the anti-terror forces will also guard provincial borders such as the border in Cirebon.
"Border areas should be guarded to anticipate the entry of terrorists in West Java," he said.
Home-bound travelers are expected to start their exodus next week, as the fasting month will end next Sunday, September 21, marking the start of Idul Fitri holidays.
This year, it is predicted that more than 27 million travelers will go to their home towns or villages to celebrate the post-fasting month festivities.(*)
